We bought this mouse to use in the bedroom as we watched movies from the PC. It did not work at all from about five foot away from the receiver plugged into the front of the PC (same height as the TV and bed). We used a USB extension and dragged it over the bed to right beside the mouse and still had trouble since you have to basically be on top of the receiver. All that work and you can only move about a foot away from the tip of the receiver before it stops working. If you want a laptop mouse that you will be extreamely close to the plugged in part, this would work great.
