I won't claim to be a computer expert, but I tried twice to replace the mouse on my HP computer. Both were HP, one was wireless, one was USB. For some reason, my computer really didn't like either of those and I had nothing but trouble. Nothing serious, but quite a nuisance. This one uses the PS/2 port and has worked flawlessly ever since I bought it. I doubt there was anything wrong with the other mice, but computers can be finicky.
